Texas Leadership Research Scholars Program
Overview
The Texas Leadership Research Scholars Program is a state-funded research scholarship and leadership opportunity program for high-achieving graduate students with financial need.
Eligibility
The Texas Leadership Research Scholars program seeks high-achieving students enrolled in a full-time research doctoral degree program with demonstrated financial need.
Institution Participation
An institution can participate if it is a general academic teaching institution as defined by Section 61.003(3) of the Texas Education Code and designated as either a public research university or public emerging research university under the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s (THECB’s) accountability system.
Rules
Texas Education Code, Chapter 61, Subchapter T-3, Sections 61.891-61.897, requires the THECB to adopt rules relating to the administration of the program, including rules providing for the amount and permissible uses of a scholarship awarded under the program.
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has adopted rules in the Texas Administrative Code, Title 19, Part 1, Chapter 22, Subchapter O, Sections 22.300-22.313.
