Our Purpose and Commitment

The Office of Student Financial Aid Programs (SFAP) supports institutions of higher education with the administration of state financial aid programs. We are committed to expanding financial aid knowledge through excellence in customer service, communication, and training for Texas students, borrowers, and institutions of higher education.

Notices

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) has extended the 2025-26 (FY 2026) state financial aid priority application deadline to February 15, 2025, in response to the U.S. Department of Education announcing in August that the 2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form will open on or before December 1, 2024. This extension is authorized under Texas Administrative Code 22.6(3). More information can be found in the memo released Oct. 11, 2024.

Student Financial Aid Programs Listserv

Subscribe to receive memos, notifications, reminders, and announcements from the Office of Student Financial Aid Programs (SFAP). Subscriptions are authorized by the Coordinating Board and are limited to Texas public and private institutions of higher education. To request a subscription, complete the SFAP Listserv Subscription Form.

Student Financial Aid Programs Training Request

Institutions/Organizations can request training from the Office of Student Financial Aid Programs (SFAP) on various topics by completing an SFAP Training Request Form.

When submitting a request, please consider the following:

  • All requests should be submitted at least 30 days in advance of the anticipated start date in order to be considered.
  • Please allow up to five business days for the training request to be reviewed.

Institutions can submit an Award History File and receive the most recent data reported for state grant recipients.

NOTE: If institutions need to return funds that are prior to 2023-24 (FY 2024), a Grants and Special Programs Online Return of Funds Form must be submitted.

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) requires all public institutions to complete the State Campus-Based Programs Annual Report to ensure compliance with the Student Deposit Scholarship and Texas Public Educational Grant (TPEG) programs.

Institutions participating in a combination of Texas College Work-Study (TCWS) or Work-Study Student Mentorship Program (WSMP) and one of the three state grant programs (TEXAS Grant, TEOG, and TEG), may transfer up to 25% of the institution’s total annual program allocation or $60,000 (whichever is less) between programs within the relevant fiscal year.

Institutions can log in to the GAPP to access TEXAS Grant, TEOG, TEG, TCWS, EAE, and Bilingual Education programs.
