GEER II – Nursing Innovation Grant Program

Program Purpose

As part of the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER II) fund, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) is pleased to announce an opportunity to support nursing programs seeking to innovate or amplify efforts to address shortages in the state’s nursing pipeline – specifically the shortage of nursing faculty and simulation coordinators, which was exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The GEER II-NIGP grant program is a competitive grant program and has $8,500,000.00 available for THECB to allocate to eligible institutions. The awards will support programs developing innovative solutions to increase nursing preceptors and simulation coordinators and alleviate the shortage of nursing faculty, which currently inhibits the ability to educate more nurses in the state.
